Rape Crisis Center

The Women Together Rape Crisis Center continues to strive to improve community support and services rendered to survivors of sexual assault, their family and friends.  Services to survivors in Hidalgo and Starr Counties were first offered in 1982.  The center is comprised of Crisis Intervention Services, Supportive Counseling Program and the Prevention Education Program.  Services provided are as follows:
 
  • Crisis intervention
  • 24 Hour Crisis Hotline
  • Emergency Shelter
  • On-Call Sexual Assault Survivor Advocate volunteer training
  • Assistance education  outreach
  • Training to medical/ criminal justice/ and other social services agencies
  • Sexual Assault prevention groups to shelter residents
  • Hospital, Court, and Law Enforcement advocacy& accompaniment
  • Assistance with Crime Victim's Compensation
  • Liaison to community Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE)
  • Member of the Hidalgo County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)

 


Our agency offers Primary Prevention Education for kinder- 12th graders and college students.  Training sessions provided to medical professionals, law enforcement, clergy and other professionals.  Presentation and training topics include and are not limited to:  Rape Crisis Center Services Overview, Introductions to Sexual Assault and Guidelines to Helping a Survivor.
