Families in Transition (FIT) is a collaborative effort with AVANCE and the McAllen community. The program provides families with intervention and prevention groups, support to parents and their children ages 5-17, through the educational curricula aimed at improving parenting skills, improving familiar relationships, providing case management for the development of interpersonal skills and helping create bonding of children with their parents. The "Rainbow Days" curriculum is the base for the group sessions. The goal is to provide support through appropriate prevention skills training including learning guided practice in coping, thinking and interpersonal skills development, and opportunities to bond with caring adults.
