The Community Education / Outreach Program strives to reach victims in colonias and rural areas. This can be done by providing crisis intervention, counseling, follow-ups, safety planning and increasing awareness to victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. The current numbers served for the Community Education / Outreach Program are as follows. The program served 320 new clients who were victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. The program reached 363 agencies and businesses. A total of 111 follow ups done by contacting former shelter clients via letters, phone calls, and home visits. Telephone crisis intervention was provided to 192 victims. Personal advocacy was provided to 320 clients and 36 women were referred to shelter. There were 55 presentations provided to the community and staff participated in 38 health fairs with a total of 3863 people attending both presentations and health fairs.
